LUXURY LIVING TRAVEL u
Situated in a magnificent enclave between Sotogrande and Gibraltar lies San Roque a unique town of contrasting landscape with lush countryside, ocean views and traditional Spanish flair, here at its heart lays the stylish and elegant San Roque Golf Club and Suites. A Home away from Home that offers a personal sanctuary in an environment unwitnessed anywhere else.
Opened in 1991, The San Roque Golf Club sits within 340 acres of natural Andalusian landscape surrounded by lush hills and historic cork oak woods. The magnificent mansion that has now been transformed into the club house and restaurant was once that of the Domecq sherry dynasty and today it is regarded as a favourite destination for anyone looking for a typical Andalucian experience.
Since its origins The San Roque Golf Club has been one of Sotograndes’ most famed and respected golf courses, set within the golden triangle of golf courses with Valderrama and Real Club de Sotogrande situated close by the San Roque Golf Course aims to attract both new and old golfers which it can easily accommodate thanks to the two magnificent courses: Old Course( 6494 meters) and the New Course( 6497 meters).
The Suites themselves provide a beautiful place to stay and consist of fifty apartments which were lovingly remodelled in 2015. The 49 suites and 52 doubles have been charmingly built in a typical Andalucian style to blend seamlessly into their surroundings with each apartment providing spacious living and dining areas and a private terrace. The resort also has a spectacular lagoon-style pool with adjacent bar and a fully equipped fitness centre for those looking to maintain their workout routine.
As one can imagine these suites have gained notoriety over the years and have been host to a plethora of celebrities most notably during the Ryder Cup in 1997, when both the European and the American team and their families resided within. Today the suites still bear witness to this, the nameplates of stars such as Seve Ballesteros and Tiger Woods can been seen proudly displayed upon the suite doors.
For dining the resort boosts an exciting range of gastronomic options; the Argentine Tango Bar and Grill set around luscious gardens and pool area offers al fresco dining in the summer and a cosy, warm atmosphere in the winter months, Jacklin’ s Restaurant which is located within the main building, offers traditional Mediterranean cuisine while Bucintoro is the perfect place for Italian cuisine lovers and for those looking to sample authentic Japanese cuisine including sushi and tepanyaki then Kamakura is the place.
