You represent Porsche in Mauritius. Did this come about via a personal fondness for the brand or by chance through a business opportunity? It is a combination of both. In 2003, we helped our partner and friend from Reunion Island, Abdul Cadjee to organise the launch of Porsche Reunion in Mauritius. Over the years, we established very good relationship with the management of Porsche AG. But it was not until 2008, when prohibitive taxation (297%) on large engines were reduced, that we could start negotiations. As for my personal affection, I’ve been a sports car enthusiast ever since I was a young boy ! Porsche is undeniably one of the most desired brands and I believe my passion for this brand convinced my family members to trust me and embark on this adventure. Do you own a Porsche? Do you have a need for speed? Let’s be honest, I do have a need for speed and driving a Porsche is a unique experience, especially when on a circuit! Not just because of the power of the car or how fast it reaches 0-100 km/h, but also becaus e of its combination of agility, technology and reliability that is developed with an emphasis on environmental consciousness. What would Man be without this pleasure? We are in constant pursuit of pushing the boundaries. Are traffic regulations frustrating for a Porsche driver? Speed and performance are not the only motives for buying a Porsche. There are many more! The exterior and interior design of the car, the assembly of quality materials, the characteristic sound of the engine and the Porsche driving experience. The Luxury business is all about emotion, but we always need to help the customer find a rational reason to justify his/her purchase. Does a typical Porsche buyer profile exist and what are their motivating factors? Generally speaking, this is usually someone who has achieved a certain level of wealth and maturity, above 45 years of age and enjoys luxury and exclusivity. His motives vary between success, passion for cars or just for pleasure after years of hard work or even as a last wish before leaving this world! I had a 90-year-old client who came to buy a Porsche because he only had a few months to live... he wanted to accomplish a last wish that his son would eventually inherit. Why would one buy a Porsche rather than a Ferrari or a Lamborghini? Each brand has its specificities. Although being a sports car, Porsche is a car that can be driven and enjoyed every day because of its uncompromising reliability.
