LOISIRS EXCLUSIFS No other sport can boast of exalting a country’s beauty in the way that golf does! And there can be no more attractive destination than Mauritius for anyone setting out to welcome golf enthusiasts! These two assertions were more than enough to provide the spur for the organisation of an unprecedented golfing event of international dimension on the 12-course island. The organisation of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open (ABMO) golf tournament was officially announced in 2014. The first ever golf tournament in the world to be tri-sanctioned by the Asian, European and Sunshine Tours, the present edition will be hosted by the Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius at Anahita, following the first edition held at the Heritage Golf Club. With a prize fund of one million euros, this global scale tournament has its results featuring on the Orders of Merit and Official World Ranking Points, Race to Dubai and Chase to the Investec Cup. All local stakeholders, as well as international professional golfers and officials were, since the launching of the competition, aware that the competition positioned itself as one of the world’s best. The first edition, held from 7 to 10 May 2015, had brought together 138 golfers, from the three different tours, at the Heritage Golf Club, in Bel Ombre, for a 72-hole championship based on the stroke play formula.
