Considérés comme des
semi-nomades marins, les Vézos
(prononcer : « Vez ») arpentent
la côte ouest de Madagascar
depuis des temps immémoriaux.
Prétendument issus de l’union
d’un homme et d’une sirène, ils
connaissent l’océan comme leur
poche, avec lequel ils entretiennent
une relation quasi fusionnelle.
The Vezo, people of the sea .
The Vezo (pronounced Vez) are a semi-
nomadic people who have been living
on the West Coast of Madagascar for
centuries. Their origins, so the story
goes, date back to the union between
a man and a siren. Whatever the case,
they have a deep understanding of the
sea, with which they live in an almost
symbiotic relationship.
