“YOUR PROFESSIONAL
RELATIONSHIP
NEEDS TO STAY
PROFESSIONAL….
NOT PERSONAL”.
1. RECOGNIZE AND REWARD
One of your biggest jobs as a leader is
recognizing and rewarding. It takes more
than an “employee of the month” program
or a monthly team meeting where you
acknowledge birthdays and anniversaries. The
positive feelings created by recognition don’t
last between monthly meetings. Recognition
is something that has to be done EVERYDAY.
Something to consider doing once or twice a
year is to send handwritten thank you notes
to everyone’s home address. They know
you’re busy so when you take the time to do
this, it’s powerful. It tells them you care and
acknowledges their hard work.
Whether it’s in front of their peers, or a quick
email to just say “Thanks,” recognition and a
thank you are a must.
