Optimizing operations is key to our setting the hotels up for success as we move into and through recovery . Optimization means delivering on our promise across all stakeholders – employees , guests , brand , and owner . The building blocks of our business have not changed , we remain laser-focused on driving revenue , retaining and recruiting the best talent , providing an inclusive , equitable and diverse employee experience , delivering unparalleled guest experiences , and generating returns for our owners . It is our opportunity to build back better than ever … relevant for today … better for tomorrow .
What factors are driving consumer behavior ?
Factors that existed pre-pandemic exist today . What we are noticing is an amplification of the expectations around experiences and sustainability blended together with the increased expectations of health and safety .
Our guests are seeking out differentiated and enriching travel experiences , more authenticity , and meaning especially through local discovery . As people start thinking about getting together in groups again , overdue friend and family reunions are on the rise as well as the opportunity to celebrate missed milestones . We also see a potential of longer stays as well , as a means of truly discovering a destination and a possible blending of remote work and leisure travel .
Prior to the pandemic , there had been growing expectations around sustainability in travel choices , and the crisis has further cemented these expectations . There is a real interest in purposeful travel and the growing desire to live healthier and feel well which aligns with the growing concern for sustainability and reconnecting with the world around us . Our research has shown that clients are increasingly making sustainability a priority when selecting a hotel and will become even more important moving forward . For over 30 years , Accor has been a hospitality leader in implementing strong sustainability initiatives and will continue to do so , recently announcing its goal to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and eliminate remaining single-use plastics in guestrooms , meeting areas , and restaurants in all hotels by the end of 2022 .
