Do you think the luxury traveller has evolved over this experience ? What are they looking for now ?
The evolution of the luxury traveller is an exciting space . On Necker Island we have always worked hard to create an idyllic hideaway for guests and in a post-pandemic world , I truly believe there will be a real craving for this ‘ home from home ’ time away with loved ones .
The luxury traveller , now more than ever , will look to visit places that are compassionate to their surroundings , supportive of the local community , and really invite an escape from normal life and the constricted lifestyle we have all been living for the past year . We are fortunate to be able to offer complete seclusion on the island and absolute personalisation , an abundance of nature and wildlife , and a very human experience ; something we will always continue to build on .
Building trust is absolutely invaluable and we have an extremely high number of repeat guests that come to Necker who have complete trust in everything we do , so these are always good indicators that we are getting it right .
How are you enriching the journey for your guests as they emerge out of a challenging year ?
Despite a challenging year , the island is looking more beautiful than ever following the reconstruction work that we have done since Irma . The rebuild of Necker has really allowed us to harness the magic of the BVI and invest in creating an even more sustainable island and thriving offering for our guests .
And even though the last year has been challenging , we are extremely proud of the work we have been able to carry out in conjunction with Unite BVI . From helping with rebuilding efforts after Irma and empowering young entrepreneurs working to positively impact the environment , to launching a solar training institute to train solar technicians and providing medical supplies and home education across the BVI during the very peak of COVID ; we have never forgotten about our local community .
