emember growing up listening to RnB Divas, with voices you instantly recognized as real music and power anthem lyrics to match. It almost feels like in a new age where it’s either Beyonce or something about sex it is easy to forget that rich empowering sound still exists. Then I stumbled upon Gold-selling artist Ny’a. A veteran to the music scene, Ny’a released her debut album “ Embrace” on Nap Records in the mid-90s. The project went on to sell over 500,000 units worldwide and is regarded by many in the music industry as a pure example of rich, traditional, good quality music. The two singles, “Alright” and “I Don’t Want To” both made it to number one on the Billboard RnB and Club charts and ignited a fan base with global reach and recognition that can still be seen today. Not satisfied to only be successful with radio play Ny’a’s team created stunning visual projects for both of her hit singles. While both videos received great reviews, national, and international, play on various outlets “Alright” went on to reach #3 on the top –20 video charts internationally on Star – U.S.A. Network in Abidjan, Africa charted by the legendary Joe Webb. The single was then remixed featuring rapper Chubb Rock and be featured on over 100 different markets and the soundtrack for Rock da Houze. Ny’a continued her climb to the top with the single, “Take It To The Top,” produced by Grammy Awarding winner, Ken Johnston (DJ Tony V and DJ Spin). The single also featured background vocals were provided by club legends, Kenny Bohbein of Kenny, and Friends and Grammy Award Winning Singer, Sabrina Johnston, along with Sounds of Blackness background singer, Latrice Varrett. The single went on to become the most requested song in New York nightclubs, (Sure Record Pool), and secured Ny’a a spot opening for, icon, Deborah Cox (BET), and Horace Brown (The Coors Lite Tour). After taking time to focus on growing herself and her sound, Ny’a re-emerged on the music scene, in 2016, with a team up with Grammy Nominated producer Kenny, “The Music Machine”, Black for the international hit, “You Don’t Know.” The single reached 10 on the DRT National Airplay Top 50 R&B / Hip-Hop Chart, with other such artists as Rihanna, Drake, Desiigner, and Beyonce, and also hit #3 on the Euro Charts, and World Music Stage Chart. The two went on to create, “MEND”, in 2017 which received spin on over 1,200 radio stations globally, hit number one in 60 different European Countries, and hit #1 on Spotify. Critics loved and were inspired by this songstresses ability to bridge the gap between the substance of 90s RnB with the current need for instant club and viral hits. Following the success of “MEND” Ny’a released her new album Something for Everybody on Nap Vision Entertainment in 2017. The project features not only “MEND” but an additional chart-topping hit and two songs featured on the soundtrack for Hill Films, Creature in the Woods (2018) movie. Her newest single and video from that project, “You Don’t Really Love Me.” was released at the end of summer 2018 and already has her fans, critics, and the world hungry for more from this true representation of an RnB songstress.
