How are you going to change music/contribute to hip hop?

Lloyd: Honestly I feel like when we go out there, we play our music and it’s good music that young kids can listen to. So I’m hoping there’s going to be artists like us that come out also. Hopefully today’s material gets old and other artists like us to start to come out. We want to make the new stuff look old.

Ashton: With today’s music, there is no food for thought or anything for the youth. Honestly I don’t want my little sister talking about drinking molly water.

What should I expect from your next mix tape?

A: It’s not going to be anything like the first one. When I first started Art of Society, I already made up my mind that I was going to do a story line where this mix tape leads in to the next mix tape. But it’s still going to be different because the next project I’m going to have is called Culture. Basically Art of Society was about how society works. As far as culture, culture makes up a society.

Explain the song writing process.

Ashton: If one of us has an idea for a song, I’m going to run it by everyone and if they like it we’ll begin working on the song. If I pitch an idea we’ll decide collectively.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years as artists?

Ashton: Hopefully we’ll be having this meeting overseas.

Lloyd: I think as artists we’ll have a lot of ties to the people (main stream artists) that everyone knows now.

Ashton: I really feel like we’ll be traveling.

Lloyd: In five years we’ll have the pull with fans to where we can just have complete control without the record label acting as a machine behind us unless we want them there. I would like to do that for as long as we possibly can.

Ashton: Anything is possible.

As artists, how would you define success?

Lloyd: It would be a blend of your numbers and the affect that the career has taken on you as a person. You can make as much money as you want but if you don’t die happy it’s not success.

If your music is a universal language, what is it saying to the world or what do you want it to say?

Ashton: If love was used enough, things like people shooting up movie theaters and kids wouldn’t happen. Spread love because it’s good for your soul.

Do you guys have any quotes you want to leave me with or anything else you want to say?

Lloyd: Truth be told, and that’s all I have to say.
