Where do you all come from?
Ashton: N.O Shaun: NJ Carey: GA Lloyd: NY Q: GA
How did ya’ll come up with the name of the group?
Ashton: Shaun and Carey came up with the name of the group but it started off as the “greatness”. One was “great” and the other was “ness”. As far as “The Truth”, that was something Shaun started while in college at the Art Institute of Atlanta
Lloyd: T.R.U.T.H stands for: Together- Reality-Unites-the-Haters. All of our songs come from personal experiences and I know that meaning ties in to it.
If you had to categorize your music, what genre would it be?
Ashton: is it fair to say we have our own genre?
Me: yes
Ashton: We call it Jafu-Soul meaning jazz and funk soul.
Who influences you?
Ashton: Everything, life, just people in general and what I go through. That’s the plain and simple way to explain it. We paint pictures with our music.
Lloyd: It’s an aspect thing really. Like for me, as far as rapping, I got into the group Camp-Lo. My style doesn’t even reflect camp-lo but for some reason listening to Camp-Lo and The Roots just makes me want to rap. For some reason I don’t even like rapping unless I’m on stage.
What instruments do you play?
Ashton: All percussion and a little bit of piano. Shaun plays the guitar, Q plays the bass and Carey plays the violin.
