Austin is a pet friendly city with several great dog parks. Some of them are hiking trails, some are fenced-in designated dog parks, while others are larger multi-use parks that are simply zoned leash-free areas. Auditorium Shores
920 W. Riverside Dr., Austin TX 78704 The park is large enough that everyone can spread out and run, dogs can swim and cool off in Town Lake.
Turkey Creek Trail at Emma Long Metropolitan Park 1600 City Park Rd.. Austin TX 78730 This is a great area to take your dog if you enjoy hiking. The trail is about 3.5 miles long, and is in the heart of the wooded Hill Country.
Red Bud Isle 3401 Red Bud Trail, Austin TX 78746 This is our favorite park! Red Bud has relatively small open running areas, however it has a very wide walking path that follows the along the water.
Zilker Park’ s The“ Great Lawn” 2100 Barton Springs Rd., Austin TX 78746 The“ Great Lawn” section of Zilker Park is zoned for leash-free activities. The open areas are huge, and great for playing ball or frisbee with your dog.
Walnut Creek District Park 12138 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin TX 78753 The off-leash section of the park is composed of long, winding trails that crosses the water in a few sections. Walnut Creek is a great park for you to get some exercise with your dog.
Davis White Northeast District Park 5909 Crystalbrook Dr.. Austin, TX 78724 Leash free area between Crystalbrook Drive, the railroad right of way, and Decker Lake Road.
Mary Moore Searlight Off-Leash Trail 907 W. Slaughter Ln. Austin, TX 78748 An off-leash dog area of Mary Moore can be accessed on 1st St. south of Slaughter Lane in the north end of the park.
Norwood Tract at Lady Bird Lake Metropolitan Park I-35 at Riverside Dr., Austin, TX 78704 This is a fully fenced dog park. Well-behaved dogs can roam and play off-leash. The dog park is located on the north end of Travis Heights
Onion Creek District Park 7001 Onion Creek Dr.. Austin, TX 78744 Along Onion Creek in Southeast Austin, this little-known park has a small playscape and gorgeous, shady hiking trails. Leash free area located at the North end of the greenbelt.
Shoal Creek Greenbelt 2600-2799 Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78705 A portion of the trail from 24th Street to 29th Street is designated as a no-leash zone. As you walk along the crushed limestone, gravel and concrete trail, you will enjoy the trees and green spaces.
West Austin Park 1317 W. 10th St., Austin, TX 78703 West Austin Park is home to one of Austin’ s fenced off-leash dog areas. There’ s plenty for non-dog owners to enjoy, too, including pool, playscape and more.
