speed of 258 km/h, deceleration in the range of 1.2g and lateral acceleration peaks of over 1.1g. All of this was achieved thanks to the optimum weight distribution – 40% on the front axle and 60% on the rear – and, thanks to a weight to power ratio of 4 kg/HP, the Alfa Romeo 4C achieves performance figures usually only available to more powerful and expensive automotive machinery. Thanks to its new 176 kW (240 HP) 1750 Turbo Petrol engine, coupled to the latest generation ‘Alfa TCT’ dry twin clutch transmission and the advanced Alfa DNA selector with Race Mode, the performance of the 4C is first rate. The new engine, featuring direct injection operating at 200 bar, and an all new aluminium block ensures torque and specific power ratios of over 200Nm/l and 137 HP/l. The maximum power of 176kW (240HP) is reached at 6,000 r/min whilst the maximum torque of 350Nm - between 2,100 - 4,000 r/min - ensures extraordinary elasticity and sportiness as 80% of the torque is available at only 1,800 r/min. Also contributing to the Alfa Romeo 4C’s stellar performance at the Nürburgring, were special Pirelli P Zero Trofeo tyres, the most-sporty versions of the Pirelli P Zero range. Not only was a record set on the track, the development of the tyres took less than a year, with collaboration between the Pirelli and Alfa Romeo engineers ensuring the best solution for guaranteeing grip and precision whilst driving. Two tyre sizes are available for the Alfa 4C, 17” front and 18” rear or alternatively 18” front and 19” rears making the driving experience on the road, or on the race track as thrilling as possible.
