Alfa Romeo 4C tames the “Green Hell”.
Midrand, South Africa – The newest addition to the Alfa Romeo family, the 4C, which makes its debut
locally in early 2014 has become the latest model from the brand to conquer the Nürburgring’s infamous
Nordschleife in a time of 8’04”. The time, attained by driver, journalist and expert on the “Green Hell”
Horst von Saurma on the 12th September 2013, also set a record for production cars with engines under
184 kW (250 HP).
The test conducted at the German complex is one of countless
trials that the Alfa Romeo sports car had to face in a variety of
conditions around the World, from -35o in Sweden to the +40o
of Abu Dhabi, from the deserts of Arizona (USA) to the slopes
of Mount Etna in Sicily, as well as the Balocco test track in Italy,
where all Alfa Romeos have been developed, perfected and tested
since 1962.
The Nordschleife has been used as the benchmark for performance vehicles by most vehicle manufacturers during the past
few years and is marked by a particular configuration that alternates slow and fast curves, straights as well as ups and downs to
offer an outstanding testing ground.
The “Green Hell” proved to be the ideal place to test the performance of the Alfa Romeo 4C to its limits. This true driving
machine without compromise delivers its best on the track, where
speed, short braking distances and acceleration are essential to get
the first rate lap times:
