PINECREST LODGE RETREAT CENTER
PROGRESS REPORT
This exciting project is well under way with a goal of returning
the Pinecrest Lodge Retreat Center to its former place as
camp’s central gathering and lodging place. Three Phases—
planned so use of the building continues while construction
stretches over four years—are integrating 17 flexible, “high
comfort” suites into the center. Building design—by Forte
Architecture of Coeur d’Alene—incorporates changing needs
of Lutherhaven and the many and varied guests we serve,
and trends in the camping “industry,” including:
•BIGGER AND BETTER RETREAT-STYLE ROOMS WITH
INDIVIDUAL BATHROOMS
•MULTI-PURPOSE ACCOMMODATIONS, EASILY FLIPPED
FROM YOUTH TO FAMILIES TO ADULTS
•BUILT-IN CLEANING EASE: HARD SURFACES, AREA
RUGS, AND HIGH-END FURNISHINGS
•AMENITIES FOR OLDER ADULTS, PERSONS WITH
DISABILITIES, AND THE MOBILITY CHALLENGED
The total refurb cost is $575,000: $400,000 for materials and
contracted services and $175,000 in staff and volunteer labor.
