Updates From The Church:
Building and Grounds:
As we look ahead to another year, our goal for the Building & Grounds committee is to maintain our grounds and facilities in the most cost effective way. We never know when a disaster might strike, such as when we had hail damage to our roof in 2015. Fortunately, our insurance covered the cost of a replacement. However, for any of our mechanical items and appliances that we use on a daily basis, it takes all of us to try to use them in the most efficient manner to attain longevity, thereby saving us on having to purchase a replacement. Thanks to all of you, it’s working! Any time that someone notices that a fixture or appliance needs some “looking at,” just let me know and our committee will take care of it to the best of our ability. And of course, everyone can help out on our gas and electric bills by making certain that all lights are turned off when not in use, and that the thermostats are set at the proper temperature when using a room. Thanks to all who contribute to the Building & Grounds fund in your weekly church pledging. This will help us to ensure having the necessary funds when needed for special projects.
Our Committess are always working to make LCM a better place for all of you! If you have any questions about a particular committee contact the office: [email protected]
Bike to church for Earth Sunday
Celebrate Earth Day Sunday April 23rd at LCM by Biking to Church
LCM is currently planning multiple events that will take place on Sunday April 23rd to celebrate Earth Day! Look for announcements to come in the near future.
One of the events that was very well received last year was biking to church. Based on the positive feedback, we will plan on continuing that tradition again in 2017. April 23rd will be the kickoff event and we will announce a bike to church day each month, April through October, to continue helping the earth (no car emissions), exercising, and having fun all at the same time. Bicycles will be stored in the shed during the service. So please, join us by riding your bike to church on April 23, 2017.
Safety tips while biking include:
• Wear a helmet
• Wear appropriate shoes and pants (shoe laces and wide pant legs can get caught in the gears)
• Avoid riding on loose gravel
• Use hand signals
• Ride in the same direction as traffic
• Stay hydrated

Adult Education:
The Adult Education committee hopes to continue thriving in 2017! We will hold on to our main stays such as Adult Sunday school and small groups, but also want to reach out to the congregation for fresh ideas to meet our needs and hopes. If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact Cindy Erickson. Yes, I am the new chair of the committee, but will welcome and rely on Margaret and Gene Rinkel (former chairs) for their participation and experience to help shape the activities in the coming year. We need to hear from you to help make this committee meaningful. Don’t be shy! Our committee looks forward to touching the spiritual lives of all!!
