The Maintenance, Operations and Transportation( MOT) yard is situated behind Selma Herndon Elementary School. Most of the buildings are metal buildings, with metal skins.
Building 4: the south bus shed, is clad with a wood siding, and this material will require painting to keep the siding in good shape to resist the weather. Building 4 also needs to have a minor building expansion so that the new longer buses can fit into the bus shed.
Building 5 is used by the Food Service Department. The walk-in cooler and freezer for the food storage are located inside the building and are is moderate condition. The doors have had some work and they will require future maintenance. The outdoor compressors and interior evaporators are at the end of their lives, and should be replaced soon. This could occur at the end of the school year when the need to store food is reduced.
Building 6 is used for the vehicle maintenance and the warehouse. Long term records are kept in the south portion, and the adjacent vehicle service bays could pose a threat for fire. If these records are of importance they should be scanned and / or moved elsewhere. The warehouse requires an upgrade to the rack and shelving so that the pallet boxes can fully rest on the shelves.
Building 7 is a new building to be used by the Grounds Department. The Grounds Department stores various supplies and equipment in a variety of locations within the MOT area. The new building would allow the Grounds Department to consolidate all equipment, supplies and resources. A large concrete area would be provided for equipment and equipment washout, and a dirt lay down area would be used for long term storage and plant storage / nursery.
