Super Strong Frame
When under load a weak reel body can distort, affecting
the efficiency of the internal gears it holds. Not so with
the new Certate. Created from Super Metal – a special
aluminium alloy – the main body of the reel delivers
a structure four times more precise than that offered
by machined magnesium. This frame works to deliver
amazingly precise location for the internal
workings, even under large load when playing a fish, so
your reel stays silky smooth even in the heat of combat.
The Perfect Mesh
The Certate takes full advantage of its
rock-solid body with super precise gearing.
Loaded with Daiwa’s Digigear Drive II
system the Certate spins silkily smooth
under the precise meshing of gears, cut
from lightweight 7075 aluminium through
a digital process that sees an almost perfect
meshing of the gears’ drive teeth for superefficient, super-smooth turning.
High Speed
Included in the new, nine-strong Certate line-up
are a trio of high-speed models. Denoted by their
black, shallow spools, these reels are the ultimate
light-lure weapons, allowing for the use of using
low-diameter braid in small amounts. Their 6.0:1
retrieve ratios give you superb control of your lures.
Revolutionary Rotor
Lightness and strength are the watchwords of
the new Certate, something that the reel’s hitech Air Rotor sums up perfectly. Created from
a material called Zaion, its make-up is that of
high-density carbon resin. This material is not
only light and corrosion-resistant but stronger
than magnesium – key when the reel is under
load.
Playing a fish the rotor supports the
pressure point of the line roller. Thanks to the
specially designed arching architecture of the
rotor, when the line is under tension through the
roller the stress is transmitted across the entire
lower section, dramatically decreasing stress and
flexing. Not only that, but the decrease in weight
has allowed for a lower centre of gravity and a
precise centre of axis, meaning the rotor has
near perfect balance.
Ultimate Protection
A reel as stunning as the Certate needs to be
looked after. Luckily Daiwa has already done
the hard work with its Mag Sealed technology.
Designed to guard against dirt and water
penetration Mag Sealed works through the
use of magnetic oil, which is manipulated by
strategically placed magnets to create an oil
barrier. This
barrier stops dirt and water getting into the
Certate, but is also frictionless, meaning
there’s no loss of smoothness.
As well as on the main rotor, the 2014 Certate
also includes Mag Sealed technology in the line
roller too, further protecting it from damage.
