LIPLESS DESIGN
The Sensei incorporates a lipless
design, so instead of a traditional
vein being used to dive, the lure’s
front end is angled, giving it the
shape to descend in the water
when retrieved.
THREE SIZES
Three different sizes of the Sensei
are available at 9.5cm, 12cm and
13cm. Each carries a different
weight, with the largest tipping the
scales at 19.8g, the smallest at
8g and the mid range 15.3g.

CASTING RANGE
Getting your lures out to range
from the shore sees you cover
more water and more fish. The
Sensei helps here with its slimline body design and it’s moving
internal ball weight system. When
cast a pair of ball bearings shift
position to relocate in the rear of
the lure, giving a arrow like effect
to the lure’s flight. On the retrieve
these weights will move within the
body, creating varied movement
to spice things up and also deliver
added sound attraction.
Bass
Jinza Sensei
Shallow diving hard baits are where
it’s at for bass. Long casts from the
shore, worked back fast at dawn or
dusk when these hard hitting predators are prowling near the surface
and smash, you’ve never felt anything like it.
The fashion is for high-end Japanese units that deliver as much attraction for the angler as they do for
the fish – we know, we covet their
iridescent sparkle and smooth,
perfectly shaped bodies as much as
the next lure flinger. In cash money
terms though, not everyone can afford to arm up with such far eastern delights – let alone lose a few
on the rocks – and that’s where the
likes of the Jinza Sensei from Spanish firm Grauvell come in.
The design on the Sensei is all
Japanese homage. For those in
the know and familiar with IMA’s
Susuke you might have to do a
double take. But where as the Susuke will cost you around the £20
(€25 / $32) mark the Sensei is half
that. Ok so the quality won’t be the
same – you get what you pay for –,
although the finish is pretty good,
but in terms of fish catching ability
will the bass notice much of a difference?
Available in five colourways and
three lengths the Sensei is well
worth a look for those on a budget
or looking to have a go at bass for
the first time – if you get the bug
then you can invest in the better
gear later.
HOOKS
The Senei utilises very capable
salt water trebles from VMC, a pair
of them on the smallest model, a
trio on the longer two sizes.
