The University strives to differentiate itself in all areas of the campus experience, including dining. The USC dining team strives to continuously enhance the dining experience either by introducing new locations or offering exciting events. USC currently enrolls nearly 1,800 international students from 95 countries. China is the top country of origin for these students, with more than 500 Chinese students attending USC in 2016. To create a welcoming environment that embraces international students and cultural diversity, USC offered a Chinese Lunar New Year event on campus that included authentic Chinese dishes throughout resident dining halls, special event meals, unique themed entertainment, and engaging educational materials. Lunar New Year is one of the most significant holidays in Chinese culture and has been an honored tradition for centuries. The length of the celebration, which is determined by the lunar calendar, can vary but is typically around three weeks long. The Lunar New Year event at USC aimed to help international students from China and other regions that celebrate the holiday uphold this important tradition and feel more at home on campus. 3/21/2017 1 | | 2
