From 1 - 3 September , St Joseph ’ s Institution held its very first Arts Fest , an event celebrating the arts in school . This was an opportunity for the students to showcase their talents , as well as to educate themselves about different forms of art .
On the first two days , the students from the Secondary and Senior Schools put up performances and enrichment sessions for the Secondary One and Two students , exposing them to various forms of art . A total of 15 sessions were presented , including narrative art , Chinese and Malay percussion , spoken word poetry , and self-defence through Indian dance .
The students were engaged and excited during these sessions when they participated in little activities . One example was during the spoken word poetry sessions , where different groups of students were encouraged to write their own poem , and present it . The groups were engrossed in their writing , and full of enthusiasm when they presented .
These two days were well received by the students . He even suggested to “ open [ these sessions ] to the whole school ”, so that everyone can enjoy themselves as much as he did . The secondary school teachers concurred as they “ felt heartened to see the Senior School working and interacting with the Secondary School students ” that “ brought the Josephian family closer ”.
Spectrum - the night performance on the last day - was the highlight and culmination of the whole event . This was an opportunity for performers from both the Secondary and Senior Schools to have their moment in the spotlight , as they share their talent and love for music with others . The hall was filled with students , families , and friends , who came to support the event .
It was an exhilarating night , as the music was pumping , the bass was booming , and the audience was shaken to their core . Cheers from the crowd could be heard throughout the night . Many performers dazzled the crowd , such as Chowdhury Arya from Lawrence 301 , who amazed the audience with his popping and locking skills . The bands like The Shantians , and
