Since its inception in 2011 , the JAL has had alumni from various professions sharing their job experience with Josephians so the students can gain insights into potential careers that they are interested in .

This is the fourth consecutive year that the SJIOBA has put together the Josephians-At-Large career workshop for SJI students . With the strong support of teachers and school staff , the programme delivered annually has gained positive response from the graduating Josephians . The invited speakers were surprised at the enthusiasm shown by current Josephians and were glad they had connected with the younger generation of Josephians .
When this service project was first conceptualised , a suitable name for this gathering had to be decided on , and a conscious effort was
made not to have both the speakers and students perceive the event as just a career talk . After much consideration , Josephians-At-Large was chosen . All of the speakers are “ at-large ,” as they have all made their mark at domestic or international circles through their lives and careers . Collectively their achievements inbued with the hallmarks of a Lasallian have since been a powerful influence in society .
A half-day commitment by a few of the old boys to share their journey of life as a professional and how they have made make a difference in society as men of integrity hopefully would inspire the graduating cohort . This year , the alumni who presented at JAL 2014 were from a host of industries such as architecture , design , law , medicine , research , engineering , entrepreneurship , public service , technology , education , banking and finance , the performing arts , and religious .
The Lasallian spirit is alive and well through the SJI core values of faith , service and community . It is hoped that through activities such as JAL , greater connections can be bridged between the past and present Josephians .
Josephians who would like to share their journey of life as a professional with our young Josephians in 2015 , please email to secretariat @ sjioba . org
