In this issue we feature the Photography Award winners from SJI’ s International Education and Global Education Programme. The competition aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the art of photography, encouraging students to showcase their creativity, and capture unique perspectives from diverse cultures and landscapes across Asia. After a rigorous round of voting, we are proud to present to you the top five photos.

During my Global Education Trip to
Chengdu, I loved the traditional Chinese architecture, temples and pagodas. While framing the pagoda with the infrastructure, a flock of birds flew past, symbolising the boundless spirit of hope. Their synchronised flight bridges the past and future, uniting China’ s cultural heritage with the promise of new horizons. Once we learn how to fly free as a bird, we can reach our full potential to fly together harmoniously with our friends worldwide and our spirit can rise unfettered. My friends and I were standing behind these Cambodian children as they were helping us wash the paint brushes. I wanted to capture the joy they were having while doing this simple task, and the joy was reflected in the pretty swirls in the water and the light from the sunset shining down on the water, which made me embrace the simplicity of the joys that they experienced in their daily lives.
