We also visited the Doi Suthep temple , one of Chiang Mai ’ s oldest Buddhist temples . This experience provided insight into how societies reconnect with their cultural roots amidst navigating a modernised world .
Mr Ang Yu Long , the lead teacher for this trip , sums up the significance underpinning this trip best . He said , “ This trip was really an experience for all the students involved . Despite being exposed to activities that were far beyond their comfort zones , all of the participants bravely stepped up and actively participated to learn more about elephant conservation and culture .”
This GEP was , without a doubt , an inspirational journey for us Josephians . We were humbled to have been part of a wider effort to create a symbiotic relationship between humans and animals in the natural world . By conserving the heritage and culture of the local community that depends on the elephant population , along with the wellbeing of these gentle giants , we have come to understand our roles as global citizens . We endeavour to live out such nuanced awareness through our contributions and actions in future .
