Choo Yi Ming Ernest Leong
Yi Ming ’ s WEP at Changi General Hospital provided him with valuable insight into what doctors do on a daily basis . He also connected with professionals and connect with professionals in the field and clarified doubts he had about the medical field . The WEP gave him greater clarity about pursuing his dreams of becoming a doctor in future .
Ernest Leong and his fellow Josephians who were attached to Ensign Infosecurity , an online cybersecurity firm , were tasked to create a threat landscape for a client that showed how threat groups could potentially gain access to their data systems so as to advise them on the vulnerabilities they need to be guarded against . His biggest takeaway from the WEP was learning to take initiative and to take ownership of his own learning .
Matthew Oon James Chen
During his WEP at the Spectra Secondary School , a specialized school for Normal Technical students , Matthew shadowed the teachers and helped out in the lessons . He observed that the teachers were very caring and often went the extra mile to foster a positive relationship with their students , such as getting to know students better after school , so that they can be a positive influence in their students ’ lives . His WEP gave him the opportunity to step out of his comfort zone , to take initiatives and interact with people with special needs and from different socialeconomic backgrounds .

James who was attached to the Policy Development Division at the Ministry of Home Affairs , had the rare opportunity to chat with MHA ’ s Permanent Secretary and Deputy Secretary about current issues and visit the Selarang Prison Complex to understand about its daily operations . Through this experience , he learnt about the role and operation of the goverment , ministries and civil service , the dichotomy between enforcement and legislation , different policy-making frameworks and the communication between different ministries and agencies .
