The Concert Band also performed two songs , the set piece : Tanah di Bawah Angin ( The Land Beneath the Wind ) by Kachun Wong , and their choice piece : Journey to Zipang , by Daisuke Eihara . Nicodemus Lin recalls the moment after their performance when they were greeted by the warm support of many Josephians , “ Everyone was waiting outside the concert hall . Parents , the principal , teachers and the conductors were all applauding our efforts .”
The outstanding achievements of our Performing Arts CCAs at the SYF 2023 were a testament to their unrelenting dedication and diligence in their training sessions leading up to the SYF . Undoubtedly , they set the standards on the precipice for many more inspiring performances in the years to come .
Lastly , the Drama Club performed a piece titled , “ The Coffin is Still Too Big for the Hole ”, an adaptation of a work by the famous playwright Kuo Pao Kun . The play seeks to explore how compassion and the system have remained the same since “ The Coffin is Too Big for the Hole ” was staged more than thirty years ago . Part of the challenge for the performers was getting used to a more abstract style of acting , which took actors some time to get used to . Their performance clinched a Certificate of Accomplishment .
Drama Club ’ s actors eagerly anticipate their time in the limelight before delivering a wondrous performance .
