RECOGNISING THE LASALLIAN STAR TEACHERS | LUMEN 33

Recognising the Lasallian Star Teachers by Karl Lee

The SJI Lasallian Star Teacher Award ( LSTA ) wishes to pay tribute to and affirm the educators that have embraced the Lasallian ethos and are dedicated to the holistic development of their students into caring , confident and independent learners who will become future changemakers and thought-leaders . The LSTA wishes to inspire educators to touch hearts and guide those under their charge to be useful citizens of the world . It also hopes to encourage educators to collaborate with each other and stakeholders as well as the communities beyond SJI . Lastly , the LSTA
wishes to promote life-long learning among SJI educators who are committed to delivering quality education to our learners .
The conceptualization of the LSTA began in 2021 . The Directors of Learning at SJI - Mr Alan Chan , Mrs Vivian Tan & Mr Karl Lee , together with Mrs Anne Tan ( Vice Principal , Curriculum & Staff Development ) felt that if SJI wanted to recognise the teachers ’ good effort and hard work , a mere “ Caring Teacher Award ” or “ Best Academic Teacher Award ” may not encapsulate the true spirit of a Lasallian educator , which
eventually led to the birth of the LSTA . This award seeks to encourage educators to be a Caring Teacher , an Effective Educator and an Inspiring Hero . Its uniqueness as a Service Award stems from the awardees ’ zest and enthusiasm in bringing out the significance of the Lasallian schools . Awardees will be given opportunities to share their expertise in Teaching & Learning with the other Lasallian schools of the ASEAN and South East Asian region .
SJI is pleased to present our inaugural LSTA awardees for the year 2022 :
