2019 was a busy and challenging year for many people , economies and nations . It echoes the life of our Founder , St John Baptist de La Salle whose death anniversary 300 years ago we commemorated in 2019 ; he too faced many uphill tasks to keep his faith and the brothers united in their mission during his lifetime . La Salle persevered and inspired others to teach and care for young people , to overcome failure and frailty with compassion , and to affirm , strengthen and heal those who suffered . This is why we celebrate La Salle ’ s mission , especially in education as the call to touch the hearts and minds of the last , the lost and the least . As we embark on a brand new decade in 2020 , we pray that all of us will be like La Salle to take that leap of faith , follow our hearts and pursue the passion that drives us to inspire others and to make this world a better place for others . We hope you enjoy this issue of Lumen as we celebrate the passion of several different individuals as they shine in the lives of many , within and beyond our Josephian community .

May this Christmastide bless you with hope , peace , joy and love . A Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year !
