Jette on Jette
When did you start drawing?
I have been drawing for as long as
I can remember, probably like other
artists. Drawings like illustrated
adventures, people, houses which all
started from my teenager years with
heaps of horse drawings.
You are trained at art college?
I wanted to go to art school so I met
with a counselor, which I should
never have done because he had me
convinced that if I could not draw
like an artist he liked, artwork which
hung on his wall, then I was not good
enough and should instead find an
ordinary job. The road was tortuous
and long, but one’s passion can
thankfully not be smothered.

Which education did you get after
advice from the student counselor?
I got regular training as a clerk, and
the pencils were used less and less,
unfortunately. I painted and signed
some portraits, which were really
good, but no one in my circle of
acquaintances was interested in art.
Did you get an “ordinary” work?
Yep, I got a regular job as a clerk for
a few years at the age of 20 and I
changed workplace a lot. For every
time I changed workplace, I tried
to get permission to draw in staff
newsletters and course catalogs, I
could not live without being creative
How was it, when you deep down
needed to be creative?
