n my work, I explore the face that lies behind the
social mask. The quality of doll-playing allows me to
create life scenarios to share a thought. My stylized
faces have been influenced by the secrets that have
been shared with me. In opposition to the serenity of
Norman Rockwell’s work, I am strongly influenced by
photographers that capture the naked, unguarded face.
Body/Body (2013)
I have made 21 personal wearable masks. A model was asked to
create a line drawing she felt would match each of the masks. She
was then asked to hold the drawing and wear the mask, exposing
her own hands and feet while I photographed the persona created.
