CAREER OPPORTUNITIES The aim of the Specializing Master is to train professionals who can manage lighting projects in a wide range of environments, including interiors, urban exteriors, temporary and museum settings, residential areas, and shows. They will be capable of analyzing methods and organizing lighting implementation, considering both the production process and advancements in the field, such as IoT-connected lighting and new design methods like BIM. Students will gain up-to-date skills, enabling them to work with leading lighting companies, design studios, and technical departments within the civil service.
STRUCTURE The educational path includes ten modules and an internship. The first four modules focus on lighting fundamentals: lighting theory, lighting engineering, connected lighting, and an introduction to lighting design. The following five modules offer advanced skills thanks to project works that delve into CAD and BIM for lighting, lighting for hospitality, exterior lighting, cultural heritage, and retail. The professional empowerment module prepares the students for the job market, starting from the final internship in lighting manufacturers and professional offices.
FACULTY The Master ' s Faculty includes some of the best Italian lighting designers and professionals, such as Laura Bellia, Chiara Bertolaja, Carlo D ' Alesio, Alberto Dolara, Roberto Faranda, Helena Gentili, Lisa Marchesi, Giovanna Olgiati, Pietro Palladino, Marinella Patetta, Giovanni Pinna, and Alessandra Reggiani. Maurizio Rossi is the scientific director, and Andrea Siniscalco is the Vice-director.
LANGUAGE The Specializing Master is held in English.
DURATION AND VENUE The Specializing Master, which lasts one year, takes place at Politecnico di Milano, Campus Bovisa, in the Northwestern area of Milan. It delivers 60 CFU, equivalent to 60 ECTS.
