una durata di circa un anno . La risposta in termini di risparmio energetico sarà evidente in ogni intervento in programma . Per quanto riguarda l ’ illuminazione pubblica e i semafori i consumi di energia passeranno da 4.224.140 kWhe a 1.950.148 kWhe , con un risparmio del 53,8 %. Situazione analoga anche per gli edifici che passeranno da 1.175.366 kWh a 449.590 kWh per un risparmio pari al 61,75 %. A regime , i benefici della proposta di Iren Smart Solutions consentiranno al Comune di Cuneo un risparmio stimato complessivo di circa 3.000.000 di kWh pari a circa 1.400.000 € ( considerando gli attuali costi del vettore energetico ). La crescita dei territori passa anche da un uso consapevole delle fonti energetiche , attraverso un percorso virtuoso di riduzione dei consumi destinato a durare nel tempo e a garantire , quindi , benefici di lungo termine . In questo modo si creano le condizioni per un nuovo modello di città , più sostenibile e consapevole della necessità di avere cura dell ’ ambiente in cui si vive , favorendo l ’ integrazione e il dialogo .

Energy efficiency and saving , the project of Iren Smart Solutions for the Municipality of Cuneo

Efficiency , safety , territorial and tourism development , citizen wellbeing and energy saving . These are the premises that have prompted the Municipality of Cuneo to work in collaboration with Iren Smart Solutions on a project aimed at improving and enhancing the efficiency of the city ’ s public lighting system and of the lighting of municipal premises . Lighting is crucial when it comes to the safety and quality of life at nightime , as it directly influences the social life of inhabitants and tourism , with subsequent cultural and commercial development . Improving visibility at night with proper lighting , besides ensuring the usability of places , decreases the likelihood of traffic accidents and increases safety for citizens in general . Also , of great importance is the impact that systems optimisation has on municipal savings in terms of energy consumption and costs , especially at a time when the rise in commodity prices is heavily affecting the accounts of public bodies , companies and families . Starting from these considerations , Iren Smart Solutions started to define a coordinated plan of interventions able to ensure the efficiency of the systems as well as the reduction of consumption and costs . A key part of the project involved a survey of the state of public lighting systems and of those inside municipal buildings . This analysis showed that most of the existing luminaires in buildings ( 96 %) and 68 % of the luminaires serving public lighting were in need of significant energy efficiency improvements . Furthermore , within the municipal territory there are 176 traffic lights on which Iren Smart Solutions will have to take action for proper management and maintenance . About forty-five municipal buildings will be affected , including nursery , primary and secondary schools , and municipal buildings such as libraries , universities and gyms . It is therefore a wide-ranging intervention , setting new energy solutions that are in line with an increasingly smart community model . Overall , Iren Smart Solutions will finalise an indoor relamping of more than 5,000 lighting fixtures and an outdoor relamping of approximately 5,900 lighting fixtures . It will furthermore ensure the upgrading of the lighting systems ( replacement of lines , supports , switchboards , etc .) and provide for the ordinary maintenance of the public lighting and traffic light systems , as well as additional extraordinary interventions . Works are scheduled to start in November 2022 , and will last approximately one year .

The outcome in terms of energy savings will be noticeable in every planned intervention . In the case of public lighting and traffic lights , energy consumption will drop from 4,224,140 kWhe to 1,950,148 kWhe , for a 53.8 % saving . A similar situation also applies to buildings , which will decrease from 1,175,366 kWh to 449,590 kWh , with a saving of 61.75 %. When fully operational , the benefits of Iren Smart Solutions ’ proposal will allow the Municipality of Cuneo an estimated overall saving of about 3,000,000 kWh , equal to about € 1,400,000 ( considering the current costs of the energy vector ). The growth of a territory also passes through a conscious use of energy sources , a virtuous path of consumption reduction meant to last over time , thus guaranteeing long-term benefits . This creates the conditions for a new model of city , more sustainable and aware of the need to take care of the environment in which one lives , favouring integration and dialogue .
