Ai Engineering Lighting design

Ai Engineering is operating since the early ‘ 70s with the mission to provide highly specialized services in various fields of engineering , with a focus on energy and environmental sustainability . Through an integrated approach and multidisciplinary skills the company provides a complete technical assistance for the setting , the development of the design and the implementation of complex works , from the building scale to the urban scale . In recent years , the traditional fields of activities , such as structural and plant engineering and infrastructure design , have been combined with highly specialized sectors with focused on innovative topics such as fire engineering , façade engineering , building physics and sustainability . The main fields of study concern artificial light and the integration of natural and artificial light applied to a building or urban scale , with an integrated approach to the project aimed at taking into account the morphology of the building , the distribution of openings , the definition of the characteristics of the transparent and shielding envelope components , and the identification of strategies and systems for artificial lighting harmonizing with the architectural idea . A central role is played by the analyses of visual comfort , which allow to identify the balance between the quantity of natural and artificial light in the environment and the appropriate

distribution of luminance , through calculation tools both in steady-state and in dynamic settings to evaluate , in space and time , all the elements necessary to support the choice of passive and active components . The main activities carried out act as specialist support between designers and general contractors , allowing the design and related refinement in the various phases with extensive knowledge and attention to the products offered by the market . This is possible through the coordination activity between specialist design ( specific technical analysis and tests ) and general design , maintaining the conceptual and technical-economic coherence of the project from the design phase to the construction phase . An ever-present objective in the various lighting design activities at different scales is energy saving , both in relamping interventions at a building or urban scale , and in the case of new installations . Among the most innovative technological solutions used in an ever-increasing number of cases are the circadian lighting systems , which allow excellent integration between natural and artificial light , a significant improvement in the level of well being and an increase in the level of concentration and user productivity . Another focus area in the lighting design is the assessment of light pollution due to artificial sources . The most suitable lighting solutions are defined to minimize the light dispersion generated by the lighting fixtures installed in the outdoor areas and by the reflections due to the peculiarities of the site , buildings and their components and to satisfy at the same time the requirements of safety and visual comfort , in line with the legislation and with any requirements dictated by sustainability protocols . The lighting design team also includes the presence of technicians accredited in the main international sustainability standards : in the design activities carried out by Ai Engineering it is now an established practice to apply standards which , in addition to verifying the values against current regulations , guarantee a rigorous process based on the principles of environmental sustainability and energy saving allowing the identification of the best strategies for obtaining sustainability certification according to the most widespread protocols on the matter ( LEED ®, WEEL AP , ITACA , CasaClima ® and BREEAM ).
