If cleats are worn for the Tug of War event, they cannot be metal. Plastic cleats and plastic with metal tips are the only type permitted. All cleats will be inspected at the beginning of Tug of War competitions.
1. This will be the last event of the day. 2. Weigh-ins for the active members and pledges will begin the Saturday April
13, 2013, and will conclude on April 19th at 8:00 pm. 3. There is a total weight limit of 1250lb for fraternities and 1050lb for sororities.
4. Each organization’ s official team must be submitted to the Judicial Chairman or the Judicial Assistant, with the original weigh-in sheet by 12:45 pm on Greek Day.
5. The official weigh-in and roster for Tug of War are due at 12:45 pm. If a roster is not submitted before the start of the mattress race, that organization will not be allowed to participate, resulting in a zero( 0) score.
6. A simple bracket style of elimination shall be used to determine matchups. i. Fraternities: a) The qualifying round matchup, first round match-up, and second round match up will be determined based upon ranking going into Tug. b) Organizations will be placed in slots by the Judicial Committee. i. Sororities: a) Will result in a round robin according to the added up scores for the day.
7. The winners’ bracket will pull for first and second, while the losers’ bracket will pull for third and fourth. 8. A coin toss will determine the pulling side. 9. Any participants digging, stomping, or kicking holes or ruts in the ground before the event begins in order to provide better footing will be disqualified from the event immediately.
10. Any participants who use spray adhesives, hair spray, or any other produces to achieve better gripping will be immediately disqualified from the event. 11. Gloves and cleats( metal cleats are not permitted) will be permitted during the event. 12. The Judicial Chairman will determine when the marker has crossed the win line.
