LTC Annual Reports | Page 2

Message from Vaile Leonard, Founder/CEO I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for your overwhelming support. The Light of Truth Center, Inc. (LTC) has grown over the last few years. Though the growth was planned and anticipated, the rate of growth was not. So, here we are, three buildings and five programs later and we are still growing! We could not have done this without the support of people who believe in what we do. Your commitment to our mission enables us to continue to provide safe and supportive housing with support services to women in recovery. How wonderful to be able to witness and assist such growth. During the month of September, the Light of Truth Center, Inc. received the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organization Seal of Excellence for the second time. Kudos to our board president, the board of directors and our newly appointed advisory board president and advisory board members. Though we have experienced phenomenal growth, LTC is poised for true greatness. Amazingly, with a 99% volunteer staff, LTC is managing two housing facilities, five programs, and two programs currently under development. It is our intention to change the footprint of services for women recovering in Baltimore City. The board of directors has adopted an aggressive agenda for 2015. LTC will establish new partnerships, implement paid staff, utilize recovery coaches, achieve financial sustainability and seek national accreditation. As one of our Advisory board member always says, “Just cuz we’re small don’t mean we can’t dream big!” Thank you for dreaming with us. Message from Board President, Karen Clay The Light of Truth Center started out as a vision by our Founder and CEO, Vaile Leonard, of what was possible in supporting women seeking to recover from drugs and/or alcohol addiction. Through faith, partnerships, and collaborations, we have grown from one home to five programs housed in three buildings. Through the last 15 years, our goal has been to shine the light of truth on addiction and advocate for innovative ways to change the traditional approach to the treatment of addiction, especially for women. We are thrilled to have an opportunity to bask in the light of the success of our organization. We appreciate all of the support you have provided and look forward to your continued support as we assist women to move from the darkness of addiction to the light of recovery. We invite you to engage with us as we “See the Light” for women, “Hold the Light” for women and “Be the Light” for women until they can do so for themselves, going out into the community as “Beacons of Light” for what is possible. As we show the community, thru the women we serve, that it is possible to experience a quality life without the dependency of addiction. Your support is essential to assisting us to continue providing services to the city of Baltimore and surrounding communities.
