Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

Book Review by Ryan S.J Bovenizer.

I am not a book person. However, after being handed a copy of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy that all changed.

The book is cram packed full of smart and witty humour that both mocks life on earth as we know it, as well as scientific theories, like the Many Worlds Interpretation.

After a man's house gets bulldozed down to make way for a bypass, he finds out that his long standing friend of 15 years, is an alien sent to earth to gather information to write about earth in The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy.

After a message is sent to earth, informing the residents that earth will be destroyed ti make way for an intergalactic bypass, the two men escape, and so begins the stranger journey to uncover the truth ever, including deadly poetry, a two headed man and a very unfortunate sperm whale.

The characters are so full of life and they are completely oblivious to the fact that SPOILERS! SPOILERS! the Earth was destroyed and they are travelling with the President of the Galaxy who stole a ship that can turn itself into a grapefruit, and can summon a sperm whale SPOILERS! SPOILERS! because of everything else that is going on around them.

By the way, I would not recommend watching the film, it is not true to the book and is a bad film anyway, but that is just my opinion. There is a TV show and a radio series that fans of the book do recommend. I am not sure anything can live up to the book though. And remember, don't panic!
