Either we learn to live together in full cooperation or we will cause our own extincition.

Some foods may go extinct soon although not all foods will go extinct. On 30th November there is a remembrance day for the animals that we’ve lost because of extinction. One of the earliest extinctions were in the year 1690 with the dodo bird.

Extinction was first introduced to us 444 years ago, the way scientists figured out about extinction was they always saw the dodo bird just walking around then one day the dodo bird was no longer walking around. They investigated this further and we then found out lots more about extinction.

The 10 most endangered animals to extinction are

-Amur leopard, the life span of a Amur leopard is from 10 years to 15 years old. The Amur Leopard is used to the cold/cool weather and it also has a paler coat than other species .

-Gorillas , The Gorillas life span is from a shocking 35 to 40 years, Gorillas live in small groups called troops or bands. Sea turtles, Sea turtles life span is 30 to 50 years, Sea Turtles love to travel and they also eat a specific diet.

-Orangutan - an Orangutan’s life span is similar to the Gorillas although it’s from 35 years to 45 years . There are 3 types of orangutan and that’s the Sumatran orangutan, the Bornean orang-utan and the Tapanuli orangutag.

-Sumatran Elephant ,the Sumatran elephants life span is 55 - 70 years , Adult elephants can drink 80 – 200 liters of water each day. They will eat 112 different plants species .Saola , the saola’s life span is 8 to 11 years , the saola lives in Vietnam.

-Vaquita , a Vaquita’s life span is actually only to 20 years ,the oldest Vaquita lived for 21 years .most other cats, tigers are great swimmers and actually like the water.

-Rhinos ,the white rhino’s life span is 40 to 50 years , the black rhino’s is 35 to 50 years and the Indain rhino’s life span is 35 years to 40 years , there are in fact 5 different spices.

-Pangolin, the life span is unknown ,the reason for the age to be unknown is because the Pangolin is such a shy animal .

Some of you reading this, might think ‘Oh, that’s a shame – but at least these are not creatures from the UK.’ – think again. In October 2019, the BBC reported that more than one quarter of UK mammals face extinction! In 2019, Scotland lost almost one quarter of species. In fact, Rosie Hails, nature and science director at the National Trust said: "The UK's wildlife is in serious trouble... we are now at a crossroads when we need to pull together with actions rather than words.”

We are sure that you would agree – we need to take action NOW and save these animals that are at risk of extinction. We can’t go on ignoring extinction, or thinking that it doesn’t matter because humans aren’t at risk of becoming extinct.

Eventually, it could lead to us becoming extinct…
