aming we all love it but does it affect our mental health if you stare at a computer or tv screen all day? It may affect your eye sight as well. The brain does not grow automatically with age. It comes from experience and the exercise the brain receives. Some would argue that gaming isn’t helping the brain to grow because children are not experiencing the world, they are experiencing games in their homes. However on the plus side playing video games may also develop problem solving skills! Wow – fantastic!
There are lots types of games that children play some are age appropriate but some are not. Many children that we know are playing violent video games at a young age and research says that a child playing violent games may result in turning into a violent adult. Adults should make sure that their children are only playing games that are ok for their age. If children are always playing violent or crime based games children will probably think robbing, crimes, vandalism and graffiti is all normal. If you commit these crimes you will get sent to prison. So it is important for children to know these things are not ok to do. Playing lots of games with these crimes in them can make it seem ok to do. Which it is not!
As an experiment for this article, both of us (Kieran & Kyle) did a challenge to stay off of our PS4 for the weekend and we both succeeded.
Findings:
Kyle found it a bit hard:
“I’m used to it, it’s my thing. I knew I would probably get upset because I am so used to playing it. It’s a hobby to me.”
Kieran:
“It was hard. But it was better because I was able to spend more time with my family. I was surprised to notice how much time I usually would play games for. It’s actually helped me to play it much less now.”
It was a risk we took to make this article possible. It is good to get outside as much as possible. We realised when we did Forest School learning with our class that being outside and playing helps you to:

Hopefully this article will make you think twice about the kind of games you play and hopefully you change like we have and play our gaming a bit less and spend more time with your family.
Gaming - an innocent hobby or a danger?
