sent us a pic of his great catch over December!
Twice-capped Junior Protea Bass angler and
Kearsney College pupil,
Bryce van der Merwe (17) , is on a
roll.
He sent us these pics of some of the beautiful
Bass he recently caught at Albert Falls Dam,
fishing off a Rebel 531 Bass boat fitted with
two Elite Ti 9 units.
SLIDESHOW
He was taking part in the Junior Bass
Internationals against Zimbabwe in
December 2019 (which South Africa won),
and his 3.6kg fish was the biggest catch of
Day One. The biggest fish recorded overall
weighed in at 3.7kg.
The day after the competition, Bryce landed a
3.8kg beauty, followed by his second biggest
ever, a 4.1kg fish, caught last weekend.

Jordy Bell
Bryce started fishing with his dad Jimmy, as a youngster of five - and he entered his first
competition as a 12-year-old.
Next month (March 2020), he will again compete in the Nationals in the Cape – where he
aims to make the SA side, to fish in the Internationals at year-end.
Lowrance SA will be following his progress with much interest.
