FABULOUS FISHING WHILE THE DECEMBER HOLIDAYS HAVE COME AND GONE, MANY ANGLERS ARE STILL BASKING IN THE MEMORIES OF SOME OF THEIR EPIC CATCHES! THESE ARE SOME OF THE SLIDESHOW ! S U T N E S Y E H T S E R U GREAT STORIES AND PICT Andre van Greunen from Gauteng sent us this exciting report about his stepson Brendan’s first Tuna catch at Protea Banks. They were fishing off his uncle’s Sodwana Cat, called ‘Wild Thing” - which is equipped with a Lowrance Elite 5 unit. Andre says, “12-year-old Brendan loves to assist and, on this day, we had four reels screaming simultaneously and my brother and I were busy fighting fish, when Brendan asked to help - because the unattended lines were causing havoc and coming close to the props. “I told him to take one rod and tighten the drag and just hold on to stop the Tuna from stripping more line and a possible crossover with our fish on the lines. “The Tuna literally dragged him on his stomach across the boat and he got stuck between the stainless bars at the back between the motors, but he just held on for life. We cleared the other lines and then told him to finish the job on the Tuna, which by now was spent and he managed the final pull without any assistance. “He is absolutely Tuna crazy now - with this also being the biggest fish of the December break, and beating both his dad and uncle. Weighed and witnessed at Shelly Ski Boat Club (on their scale) at 14kg - Brendan was added onto the club’s new Junior Catch Board.” Well done Brendan! Anton also fishes off his jetski which is fitted with a Lowrance Hook2 5HDI unit.
