LOSS OF A
LEGEND
RIP Anton Gets
All of us at Lowrance SA extend our sincere condolences to everyone who loved
and lived life with Anton Gets – the legendary and long-standing Commodore of
Shelly Beach Skiboat Club.
We were saddened by the news of the “Ballies” death on Friday, June 7th, after
a struggle with cancer.
Lowrance SA’s Lisbeth Plotz says, “Anton was a stalwart in the fishing community
- whose reputation and fishing skills extended far beyond KZN’s South Coast.
He influenced umpteen anglers around the country and will be sorely missed by
many. Anton was a Lowrance-user for many years!”
This tribute from the Shelly Beach
Skiboat Club says it all – from those
who knew him best:
“As many of you will know Anton
lived for every moment, touched
many lives, was passionate about
ski boating, sport fishing and all
things ocean related. His legendary
status as a veteran skipper, training
instructor, Protea angler, SADSAA
selector and family man will be
respected for ever. His involvement
at Shelly Beach Ski-Boat Club over
many years is greatly appreciated
and the reputation of Shelly Beach
as a tournament venue is largely due
to Anton’s passion and commitment.
To Anton’s family Michelle Gets,
Candice Norris, Grant, Ann Mathias,
Bevan Taljaard, Liam and all the
others our heartfelt condolences in
this difficult time.”
