Lowrance SA’s Mikala and
John, lived the moments
with them for the week
- applauding the highs
and commiserating over
the lows – and ultimately
celebrating
with
the
winners of this hotly-
contested event!
The competition produced a total of ten Marlin (six Blue and four Black) – all of which
were safely released! While most of the 75 anglers targeted Marlin, some Gamefish
were also caught and released. These included Skipjack, two Wahoo, two Yellowfin
Tuna and a Kawa Kawa (Bonito). Some Gamefish did count for points!
Organiser Willie Pretorius said there
were lots of strikes which sadly
didn’t convert into releases – one of
the reasons being tackle failure. All
participating anglers had to bring
their own tackle, and some was not
well-suited to our unique waters.
Teams were allocated the boat that
they were going out on the following
day, so every day teams were on a
different boat.
Jaco Hendriks and Jaco Huyseman on the boat Kit Kat, were declared the Winning
Skipper and Deckhand respectively. And it’s important to note that this winning
boat obviously has Lowrance installed. Lowrance is no doubt the number one
choice for all top SA skippers with at least 70% of the competing boats having
Lowrance installed.
