Each angler was allocated exactly
the same amount of bait, which
had to last the official four hours of
fishing each day. This included: 1 x
kg Sardine, ½ kg Chokka (Squid) and
10 mullet). The anglers would cut
these up into appropriate-sized bait
fillets.
Most of the fish caught were Guitar
Fish and there were some Catfish
and Eagle Rays.
Congratulations to South Africa’s
Thys Basson, who became the
Masters World Champion with his
overall 42 ranking points!

There was an excellent spirit among
the anglers in this World Games
Championship event. They also
enjoyed the social events – one
night over 300 participants spent the
evening together at Boesmanland
Plaas Kombuis. The prize giving was
held at Club Mykonos.
Before they flew home many of them
took the opportunity to visit Cape
