CORROSION KILLS If you are an offshore angler, corrosion is your worst enemy! You have to take extra special care to avoid corrosion. Corrosion often attacks card readers and plugs/connections. It could render your card reader useless, so you cannot read charts at all. Or it could attack your connections and you could lose pins- even the loss of one single pin will mean that your connection will not work. It is important to note that corrosion is considered negligence and is not a warranty claim. HOW TO PREVENT CORROSION: You should always have a can of Corrosion Block on your boat. You can use this for all your boating equipment- spray the card slot of your Lowrance unit, spray the connections on the back and on your cables, and you can also spray your rods and reels. Lowrance SA sells a single can of Corrosion Block for only R100. It’s a great addition to your Christmas gift ideas! recommend that you first use a solution of warm mild soapy water (like dishwashing soap), wipe the face dry and if water spots remain, use a solution of water and vinegar. Always use a soft cloth. If your unit comes into contact with salt spray, you should simply wipe the affected surface with a cloth dampened with fresh water. If you just wipe the screen with a dry cloth or with a cloth that has been dampened with sea water, the salt particles can scratch your screen. If you feel the need to give your LCD screen a proper clean, we Some customers (especially kayak or jet-ski anglers) might see moisture droplets on the inside of their screen- this condensation cannot be prevented. An easy way to get rid of condensation is to wrap your unit in a dry towel and leave it in a dark, dry place overnight. The droplets should be gone in the morning.
