Adding to the hype was the thought of catching the tagged fish and the excitement was tangible. Even Lisbeth (Lowrance SA’s MD) got swept up in the mood and she was spotted throwing a line from the barge!! Our Lowrance brand ambassador - Clifford Saville (AKA Lemon) was also spotted at the comp, along with his son Tristan. Tristan caught quite a few fish. We managed to get them both on video: The sought-after tagged fish, with the huge cash prize attached, was caught near the pumphouse area the previous week and after it was tagged, the organisers released it in a totally different spot in the dam, much further away. The luckiest angler of the weekend turned out to be Freddie Landman from Ballito, who caught the insured fish, right back at the pumphouse where it had first been found. It had obviously swum back to its nest! No-one was more surprised or excited than Freddie, when he spotted the yellow tag and he immediately beached his kickboat and hitched a ride on a power-driven boat, to get his catch verified and to release the fish. He was thrilled to win R25 000 - and R25 000 was given to the school fund.
