using the Lowrance Autopilot
has totally changed his fishing
and enhanced his days out on
the water.
He highlighted a couple of
examples for us.
“When we’re bottom fishing
and doing long drifts with the
wind or current, the skipper is
always at a disadvantage when
it comes time to bait up and
prepare for the next down!
What I do with my Autopilot is,
once we’ve reached the end
of our drift and we lines up, I
simply hit the GPS waypoint
at the beginning of the drift,
engage the autopilot mode
and set motors to high idle, just fast enough to achieve 5-6km/
hr. True ground speed.
From then I have the time to bait up with my crew, grab a
bite to eat or some drinks out the hatch and when we reach
the start of the drift, I’m ready to go down with the rest of my
crew and actually enjoy the fishing, not just drive boat! A total
game changer that also makes me enjoy bottom fishing so
much more.
