his popular event saw 350 anglers fishing their hearts out in searing heat by day and forfeiting their sleep over night – to try and catch the most species over 24 hours .
Despite their efforts , only 46 fish were recorded , measured and released .
No-one could top Dean Meintjies ’ final tally of three species - a Cob , Sandshark and an Elf – which bagged the Most Species prizes including a Lowrance fishfinder .
Only seven of the 10 species were caught including a Grunter , Cob , Gurnard and Diamond Ray – as well as a Sand Shark , an Elf and a River Bream .
Family and friends turned up in support of the anglers and all enjoyed the festive atmosphere .
