Hurricane Sandy

In late October of 2012, Hurricane Sandy destroyed New Jersey and New York. Hurricane Sandy was probably one the worst things ever to happen to New Jersey, not only from the destruction the hurricane did to the state but also it almost tore families and communities apart. The storm almost wiped out the state of New Jersey, I remember my aunt telling about how she saw the lifeguard stands floating down the street. After all the storm it ended up costing 30 billion dollars in relief for all the damages from the storm. This storm may have destroyed most of New Jersey, but it also prepared us for other hurricanes in the future and to make sure for next time there isn’t as much damage as there was before.

Hurricane Sandy, was one of the biggest natural disasters to happen New Jersey. All together it ended up costing the state 30 billion dollars in damages, which is a lot when you think about how small of a state New Jersey is. But even though the state was affected by the storm that didn’t mean that we weren’t do anything about. So what did we do? We rebuilt everything. The state even started a clothing drive to raise money and used things like Jersey Strong or Restore the Shore. So that helped out a lot with raising money for people who really needed it at the time.
