Q: Lady J, can you recall what the theme has been for each of the 10 Mother-Daughter events? A: Let’s see, the very first was “Leaving a Legacy of Faith;” we held that one at our 1250 Brass Mill Road location. Sister Rachel Henderson was the first Women’s Ministry Leader and together we transformed our worship area into a beautiful banquet setting. The guest speaker was Marianna Jones of Concord Baptist Church, Baltimore, MD. The second was before the 2008 election of President Barak Obama; our theme was “Women Campaigning for Christ,” we were honored to have Lady Deborah Dennis of Kingdom Worship Center deliver the message to us. Our event was held at the Richlin Ballroom. We campaigned for Christ, Campaigned for Success, and Campaigned for a Cure by donating to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and focused on breast cancer awareness. In 2009, we moved the event to the Hilton Garden Inn in White Marsh where we held our events from 2009 –2011. In 2009 our theme was “Living the Life: The Proverbs 31 Woman.” It was the first year we introduced the fashion show to the luncheon. The Reverend Doctor Emma Jordan-Simpson, of Concord Baptist Church of Christ, Brooklyn, NY was our guest speaker. In 2009, our charitable efforts were again in support of breast cancer, but also Harford Family House, in support of the homeless intervention program. In 2010, we were “Under Construction: Women Building God’s Kingdom through Love - Psalm 127:1.” Our guest speaker was Co-Pastor Jeanette Rush of Ebenezer Temple UHCA, Hartford CT. 8 In 2011, Sister Jackie Meadows took over as Women’s Ministry Leader and our theme for the year was “Sisters Building Sisters - I Thessalonians 5:11.” Evangelist Celestine D. In that year, we supported the Heather Hurd Foundation focusing on the seriousness of texting and distracted driving and honored Heather and the hundreds of victims who were tragically killed on Maryland roads. In 2012, our theme was “Diamonds: You are the Sparkle in God’s Eye - Ephesians 5:8.” We held our event right at the church campus at Creswell Road. The guest speaker was Elder Yolanda Robertson of Kingdom Light Ministries, Baltimore, MD. In 2012, our charitable support turned its focus to the LFCC Scholarship Fund under the Leadership of Sister Jonise Stallings. In 2013, the theme was “Stepping in your High Heels and Following God - Psalm 32:23.” We were blessed by the word from “Rev. Dr. Stiletto,” Co-Pastor Colinda K. Hunter of FOCUS Outreach Ministries, Hartford, CT. In 2014, the theme was “What’s in Your Bag? - Galatians 2:20.” The guest speaker in 2014 was Pastor Carol Taylor, Word of Faith Ministries, Aberdeen, MD. In 2015, we moved the event to Water’s Edge Events Center. The theme that year was “Unveiling Your Mask,” and we were honored to have Dr. Karen Bethea as our guest speaker for our 9 th Mother and Daughter Event. We focused on our 10 th Church Anniversary in 2016 so we did not host an event that year. This year our theme truly blessed us. The 2017 theme for our 10 th Mother and Daughter Event was “God Does It Big, So Let’s Think Big - Ephesians 3:20.” Once again we were blessed to have Rev. Colinda K. Hunter bless us with a powerful word of victory. She implored us to not just think big, but to carry those thoughts into actions. To God be the Glory and Honor for the great things he has done for us!
