Dear Love Thy Horse,

I have been riding for years and years, but whenever I trot, I tip to the left until I fall off. I think my horse is doing it on purpose. What am I doing wrong?

From Straight and Tall.

Hi Straight and Tall,

There's a few possibilities here so I'll run through them briefly for you. Does this only happen on your horse? Or is it other horses too? If it does happen to just be your horse, have you had the saddle fitted to make sure it's a nice fit on his back? I'd also double check the girth is nice and tight after hopping on and after walking around a little.

However, if it happens on other horses too, I would turn to your riding. Have a few lessons with an instructor who will understand what you're having trouble with.

In the meantime, I'd try riding and videoing yourself, maybe it's an issue you will be able to see when you can watch your own riding

I hope I've given you a few ideas and feel free to write back again to let me know how you're going or if you need further advice.

Good luck with your riding!
