Animal in Balance Rehabilitation & Rehoming for Animals

Animal In Balance Rehabilitation and Rehoming is a privately run, not for profit group, who is passionate about the health and well being of all equines. We offer a safe environment for abused and neglected horses, help them to overcome their fear and neglect, and then attempt to find them forever loving homes. Not all horses that come to us have been abused or neglected. We also have horses who come in whose owners are either unable to look after them anymore, do not have the experience to help their horse as well as retired horses from the racing industry. All the equines in our care, both big and small, are part of our family, no matter how long or short their stay may be. We put our hearts and souls into what we do. Animal in Balance R&R is run by Alicia, a healthcare professional and Aukje who is a natural therapist for animals. They have both been involved in rescuing, rehoming and rehabilitation horses for many years but have been together since February 2013. In May 2013 we saved an aged Arabian mare from her owner. She was extremely emaciated , but still looked bright out of her eyes, we called her Sweetness. This poor old mare had scars from her withers to her tail and her legs were swollen. After a few days in care this beautiful girl started to look alive again and even went for a trot together with our foals that she had taken under her wing. She was gaining a lot of weight and seemed quite happy. Unfortunately after 4 weeks in care we found her peacefully passed away in the paddock. We were very sad as she was part of our family from day one and had created a special bond with her. Horses we have in care: Buddy: Buddy has come to us with major trust issues. His previous owners had send him off to get broken in twice, the first time the trainer took the money and dumped him at the showgrounds without any food, he came back skin and bones. The second time he was send off he came back scarred on his wither, full of galls and looking at his scars/injuries beaten with wire. The owners didn’t know what to do with him any more due through his trust issues so he came to us. He has been with us for 7 months and is doing great! He has been re-broken into saddle by our very patient and soft trainers who took him on for 10 weeks.

re-broken into saddle by our very patient and soft trainers who took him on for 10 weeks. They could everything with him. Though, when there is someone new around him he does need get trust in them, but once the trust is won, he’ll go through fire for you. Buddy is available for rehoming. ( 3 y/o Paint x QH chestnut gelding) General: General is a beautiful young boy with amazing movements! He is very smart and learns very quick. He is also very cuddly, but does need an experienced person who knows how to handle young horses. General is available for rehoming. (1 y/o QH x Stockhorse gelding) Chicky & Chooky: Chicky and Chooky have come to us unhandled, afraid of anyone. The two 2 y/o girls will be available for rehoming soon with basic handling
